Too Much Screen Time?

Do your eyes need a little break?

I was having a bit of a whinge to my mum about how sore my eyes had been lately — too many late nights doing marketing and staring at screens for the farm.

So mum did what mums do best and made me a cup of tea with Rose and Calendula.

I went to soak my cotton pad in the jar and rest on my eyes but first, she burnt my eyelids with how bloody hot it was so make sure it’s cooled down before it goes anywhere near your eyes!

Once it had cooled enough to not get 3rd degree burns, I soaked a cotton pad in once more and rested it gently over my eyes…

Make sure you re dunk the cotton pad a few time just like you would with that cookie in some milk, to really get the good stuff up in their.

With what was left of the tea, mum drunk the rest of it like the wine she needs at the end of the day.

Overall we both ended up feeling better. I think she was feeling better because I finally stopped complaining.

But it was back to work for me, no rest for the wicked!

Sometimes it’s the smallest rituals that make the biggest difference.

Thank goodness for mums, hey 🤍

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Prepare the Calendula Infusion
Boil the water and let it cool to a lukewarm temperature. Place the dried Calendula officinalis flowers in a clean, heatproof container. Pour the lukewarm water over the calendula flowers, covering them completely. Allow the infusion to steep for 15–20 minutes.

2. Strain the Calendula Infusion
Strain the infusion through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean container to remove the flower petals.

3. Mix with Rose Water
Add 1 teaspoon of Damask rose hydrosol to the calendula infusion.

4. Soak Cotton Ball or Pad
Immerse a clean cotton ball or cotton pad in the calendula and rose water solution. Squeeze out excess liquid to avoid dripping.
